Biography

Dr. Smith has been conducting research in immunology, both adaptive and innate immunity, for over twenty years.

Current efforts are focused on mucosal innate immunity, and the factors that regulate colonization, inflammation and protective immune responses at mucosal surfaces.

Dr. Smith is also a board certified anatomic pathologist, with subspecialty expertise in renal, cardiovascular and autopsy pathology, and extensive experience in mouse pathology.
