The current state of the NIH presents a unique opportunity to address longstanding inefficiencies, reimagine a more sustainable research enterprise, and reaffirm the vital role of the NIH. We feel that this is a pivotal moment to rebuild the NIH for the future, through a thoughtful process that preserves the best of the American scientific enterprise.

 

A new publication in The Journal of Infectious Diseases authored by CERID PIs Ana Weil, Sarah Baker, Frederick Buckner, Geoffrey Gottlieb, Kevin Hybiske, David Koelle, Tara Reid, Michelle Sabo, Chetan Seshadri, Javeed Shah, Wesley Van Voorhis, and Helen Chu, outlines the current state of the NIH and proposes solutions to revitalize and strengthen its leadership in biomedical research.
