Dr. Ana Weil is Principal Investigator on a newly awarded R21 funded by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), “Effect of Gut Bacteria-Derived Sphingolipids on Oral Cholera Vaccine Responsiveness.”

This project aims to understand how gut microbes impact vaccine responses to oral vaccine antigens, which may enable new tools for disease prevention, such as the use of microbes or their metabolites as pre- or probiotics to boost responses to oral vaccines.
